Operations Manager (Senior Role)

The Shandon Hotel & Spa has had unprecedented success since it opened its doors as a 4 star resort at Easter 2016.  The executive management have closely analysed the performance and demand as the business grew and with their finger on the pulse, they identified areas of growth which would meet the ever growing popularity of the Shandon.

Just recently the Shandon unveiled a new feature staircase to the front of the building which makes way for the newly launched Marbles Restaurant and some of the newly built bedrooms which will be on sale from May 2018.  The new staircase transforms the exterior and ties in the luxury spa with its appealing stone work and the new roof modernises the entire property.

The introduction of the new restaurant and an additional newly built 18 bedrooms makes way for a huge expansion, allowing the hotel to cater for corporate, leisure and wedding business simultaneously with ease, comfort and professionalism.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Resort Operations Manager

REPORTS TO: General Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Resort Operations Manager should have an excellent level of commercial awareness, who can build and maintain relationships with internal and external guests & team members. Also responsible for highlighting short/medium/long-term issues to the General Manager along with proposals or solutions to remedy.

As operations manager you will have the sole responsibility of all operations in the hotel, spa & leisure centre. A strong food & beverage knowledge and background is necessary for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fully responsible for all aspects of smooth operations in all departments.

Support, coach and mentor each department manager.

Ensure the premises are in operative condition as per category of the unit to receive & serve the guests with service excellence.

Conduct regular operations team meeting with all the HOD daily / weekly to discuss routine operational matters, sales targets, guest reviews and action taken for service recovery, and also any staff issues. Minutes of the meeting to be sent to GM.

Ensure SOP implementation in all departments and check the same during routine operational checks.

Monitor the purchase / indent / requisitions of each department, the accounts receivable (collection from debtors) and the accounts payable (payable to the vendors / suppliers etc.).

Randomly inspecting the stores (F & B / Kitchen) to check the stock in hand (quality, par stock levels, expiry etc.) with the Chef.

Dealing with Suppliers / Vendors for quality products and providing performance assessment of vendors every quarter.

Inspecting all departments for SOP implementation.

Inspecting all department with their respective Manager’s for cleanliness, ambience, service readiness, staff grooming & hospitality culture.

Monitor the co-ordination between all departments for smooth & efficient operations.

Assessing and reviewing customer satisfaction and service recovery process.

Meet all dept. heads to review & train the staff to upkeep the staff morale.

Identifying staff learning needs and assisting with development

Providing timely and constructive feedback to all direct reports as and when required either formally or informally.

Monitor and maintain operation & overhead cost in order to maintain maximum revenue to the organisation.

Be available by phone when off site to resolve any urgent problems or emergencies.

Responsible for the overall management of the operation of the hotel.

Regular undertaking of duty management shifts and deputising the GM in her absence.

Food & Beverage Service Staff (Full Time, Part Time & Seasonal)

Responsibilities will include:

  • To greet guests in a warm, friendly manner
  • To ensure the work stations are correctly set up ready for service
  • To inspect service area prior to beginning service to ensure all the necessary tools are to hand that the area is neat, clean and tidy
  • To promote and sell the resorts facilities at all times
  • To ensure that any lost items are declared and recorded in line with hotel policy
  • To serve customers professionally, promptly and with warmth
  • To upsell the various food, beverages and other facilities in the hotel
  • To report any maintenance issues immediately
  • To adhere to all Company policies including Customer Care, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Cash Handling etc
  • Effective communication with other employees to ensure the day to day business runs smoothly

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role in a hotel
  • Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of service
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi task
  • Must be standards driven and detail orientated, with the desire to progress within the hospitality industry
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicate fluently in English (written & oral).
  • You must have the ability to walk and stand during your entire shift.

Experienced Bar Tender

Responsibilities will include:

  • To greet guests in a warm, friendly manner

  • Cocktail & Barista experience necessary
  • To inspect service area prior to beginning service to ensure all the necessary tools are to hand that the area is neat, clean and tidy
  • To promote and sell the resorts facilities at all times

  • To serve customers professionally, promptly and with warmth
  • To upsell the various food, beverages and other facilities in the hotel
  • To report any maintenance issues immediately
