Credit/debit card details will be required to secure all bookings including those to be paid by gift voucher. If you are paying by gift voucher please remember to bring it with you on the day and present it on arrival. Gift vouchers are non-refundable & no change will be given from a gift voucher.
Group bookings are welcomed, and the person making the booking for a group will be responsible for ensuring all those attending are made aware of and comply with the terms & conditions of the Shandon Spa.
It is important that you advise us in advance of any health conditions, allergies or injuries which could affect your treatment when making your reservation.
We have specially designed treatments for expectant mothers who are 14 weeks or more pregnant, however use of the Thermal Suite is not recommended during any stage of pregnancy.
COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols – Spa Guidelines COVID-19
The Shandon spa will ensure we have the best health and safety, and hygiene protocols in our spa, in line with the World Health Organization, the Health Services Executive, and the government directives during these unprecedented times.
We have developed protocols with using Hospital Grade Products and PPE, which will assists us in the protection of our guests and spa team.
We are committed in making the spa experience with us as comfortable as possible and will continue to monitor and update controls measures to make sure our guest’s journey, spa team and community keep safe.
- We have undertaken a thorough review of our spa and the services we offer
- We have rearranged our waiting areas, relaxing areas, treatment areas, thermal spa and changing areas to adhere to social distancing guidelines 2 meters.
- All spa surfaces throughout the spa will be cleaned regularly and wiped with the appropriate cleaning product between each treatment
- All items of equipment will be cleaned before and after each treatment. This includes all metal instruments, brushes, bowls, tweezers, hot stones, electrical equipment, hard surfaces and work stations.
- One use disposable items will be used where necessary (sustainable alternatives kept where possible).
- We will ensure adequate ventilation throughout the salon with doors windows open where possible.
- We have developed a plan in dealing with suspected case COV-19 in the work place
- All papers and magazines removed from spa
Flexible booking policy: The Shandon spa will ensure guest safety will be our main priority, if you develop any of the symptoms of COVID -19 prior to arrival, we will ask you not to attempt to travel and contact us. We will help to re-arrange your appointment to another date.
Spa guests arrival at reception
Arrival time: To arrive at the time agreed, to maximize social distancing throughout their spa experiences. It is important that guests arrive on located time to enjoy their spa experience – late arrival will mean your treatments and spa experience adapted to the remaining time of your booking. Please note that allocated treatment times and thermal spa includes consultation and preparation time.
Temperature Checks: Upon arrival all team members and Spa guests will undergo a mandatory temperature check. Should a team member temperature be above 38 degrees Celsius, they will be refused entry and advised to seek medical aid. There will be no cancellation fee. They can reschedule treatments for a later date when safe to do so. Personal Protective Equipment will be worn by all spa employees based on their roll and responsibilities. Gloves will be provided to spa attendant – spa public house keepers, spa maintenances, and any other employees in direct contact with guests.
All our spa team will be properly trained on how to wear appropriate PPE. All spa team will be properly trained how to remove appropriate PPE Safely and how to discard in appropriate linen bin with plastic bin liner inside or waste bin with plastic liner inside.
Spa guests will be asked to wear masks for certain treatments protocols such as manicures/pedicures
Hand sanitizer: Guests will be warmly greeted but without a handshake and advice those to practice hand sanitizing on arrival to the spa during their spa visit. Hand sanitisers will be placed at key appoints throughout the spa.
Guests will be advised to hand sanitiser as directed by our spa team before and after entering reception area, hair salon, before and after each treatment, before and after using thermal spa & spa lounge and before after leaving changing rooms
All staff will be trained to wash hands and disinfect hands properly recommendation made on advice from world health organization and HSE Governments guild lines.
COVID-19 TRAINING. All employees will receive training on COVID -19 safety and hygiene protocols with more comprehensive training for our teams with frequently guest contact.
Front of house signage: There will be health and safety reminders throughout the house property including physical distancing, floor markings and notices.
Physical distancing: Guests will be advised to practice physical distancing by standing at least 2 meters away from other groups of people not traveling with them while checking in, using lift, or moving around the spa.
Cleaning products and protocols: Our Spa Team uses a hospital grade disinfection to clean spa, to ensure all high touch areas are all constantly been disinfected throughout your visit.
Organise booking people flow:
Our Spa Team will stagger scheduled appointments in all spa departments to reduce the number of people in the spa at any one time. Spa teams will have additional time between appointments to allow for the correct cleaning of equipment and station after guests and before the next guest appointment times.
PRE booking appointments: All packages, including treatments, hair and thermal spa to be pre booked in advanced and secure with credit card details even if you’re paying by voucher. Credit cards machines will be disinfected after each guest.
Payments: We will ask guests to pay where possible by card or other cashless means where possible, room charges and spa vouchers. Spa vouchers, please bring spa voucher with you on the day must be presented on day for spa payments.
Guest journey: Where possible we will escort spa guests to the to the different spa areas, to avoid congestion in specific spa areas.
What to wear: No jewellery should be worn in the Thermal Suite and Spa. Towels, robes & spa footwear will be provided, and should your appointment include use of the Thermal Suite, please bring swimwear (should be chlorine resistant). Disposable briefs or boxer shorts will be provided for all treatments. In the interest of comfort, personal safety, health and hygiene and in consideration of all our other guests, the slippers provided must be worn in all areas of the Spa at all times. Swim wear must be worn at all times in spa and can be purchases from spa reception. Please use robes or towels when lying on heated lounges.
Spa residents to arrive in their own robes and slippers from bedrooms.
Spa residents to shower in their hotel rooms after thermal spa and treatments due to physical distancing.
Robes & towels: Day spa guests will be supplied with robes and towels.
Thermal spa showers: Guest will be advised to pre shower using the thermal spa showers before and after entering the thermal spa, Canadian hot tub, sauna, heated lounges and salt grotto.
Changing room showers: All spa guests will be asked not to use showers in changing rooms. Please shower in safety of your own home due to physical distancing of changing rooms. All touch products & appliances such as shampoo/ conditioners/body washes containers, hairdryers will be removed from changing rooms.
Spa lockers: Spa Guests will be located lockers by team members. One locker per person only. All lockers and lockers keys are cleaned disinfected/sanitised after and before each client. Please put all your personal belongings into the lockers and keep the key on your wrist at all times. Jewellery should be removed and not wormed while in the spa. Lockers are provided for your use and will require a €1/£1 coin, however, we do recommend that you do not bring valuables as the Shandon Hotel & Spa do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal items. Keep your wristbands with your key on your wrist at all times.
Spa lift: We recommend that only one guest, couple or group use the lift at one time.
Thermal spa: All spa guests will use thermal spa area, prior to their spa treatments packages expect for the 9.30am and 10am morning treatments. They can access the thermal spa after their. Treatments from 10.30am will use thermal spa prior to treatments.
Guests unwell: Spa guests should contact the spa and re-arrange their appointment, if they have a temperature, or if you they are feeling unwell, or if anyone in your house hold is feeling unwell or is self-isolating.
Isolation: Our spa team will not come to the Spa if they or anyone living with them is self-isolating or is displaying symptoms know to be consistent with covid-19.
Family member isolation: Guests please will be advised not come to the Spa if they or anyone they live with is self-isolating or is displaying symptoms know to be consistent with covid-19.
Digital consultation / declaration : Guests will be encouraged to complete Health consultation and COVID-19 declaration before arrival stating that they have no cold, flu or COVID -19 symptoms, or no one in their household is currently are self- isolation.
Or if they recently travelled to any of the countries with high concentration of COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days? The via email due to arrival
COVID – 19 safety officer: We have identified spa staff team member to handle all issues in relation to COVID-19. This team will ensure appropriate communication and coordination between different departments. Front of house reception, hair salon, changing rooms, thermal spa, spa lounge, treatment reception area, treatment rooms and relaxation rooms.
Suspected case: The safe isolation of any suspected case(s) of COVID-19:
We have identified isolation room(s) which are located away from lifts.
We will Guide the guest(s) to an isolation room straight away and contact the Health Services Executive. We will ensure that the guest has access to communication through a room phone or mobile phone (with charger). If the guest has a GP / Doctor in Ireland, we will inform them that they should phone them without delay and inform the GP of their travel history and symptoms. Otherwise the guest will be advised to phone 112 or 999 without delay. The Hotel Manager will notify the HSE by phone that a guest may have COVID-19. (Call save: 1850 24 1850, Phone: 041 6850300)
Spa treatments: We have reviewed our treatments menu and removed treatments where we felt it necessary to do so. We have conducted training to ensure all our spa team members care for our guests in a safe, hygiene and professional manner. All spa staff have been trained to adapt each treatment to uphold best practice, including hygiene and safety.
Please note that the allotted treatment time includes a consultation and preparation time. If you arrive late for your appointment, your treatment will be adapted to the remaining time of your booking.
Organise people flow & contact tracing: To manage social distancing & contact tracing in the spa – We have divide our spa team into groups. Each group will start and finish at specific times to organize people flow in the reception areas, treatment rooms, relaxation room, thermal spa areas, Canadian hot tub & spa lounge, hair salon and changing rooms. Contact Tracing in place to identify each spa guests or spa workers which may have been in close contact with someone who later fell ill, so they can be informed to self-isolate or seek testing if necessary.
Please note that the Thermal Suite is an adult only environment and is only open to persons aged 18 and over. Young persons between the ages of 16 and 18 can avail of treatments provided they are to be accompanied by an adult.
We require 48 hours’ cancellation notice. In the case of no shows 100%, late cancellation 50% charge will be applied to the card details provided at the time of booking. All cancellations must be submitted in writing
Any issues in relation to your treatment and or thermal experience must be raised at the time or prior to your departure from the spa that very day.
Management of the Shandon Hotel & Spa does not condone any abusive behaviour from any individual or group of individuals towards their staff members. All brochure content is correct at time of print. Management reserves the right to amend any aspect of the content at any time without prior notice.
To ensure all guests experience the sanctuary of the Spa, we respectfully request that all visitors keep noise to a minimum. Use of mobile phones and electronic devices is strictly prohibited. Smoking, the use of E-Cigarettes & the use of drugs in the Spa is strictly prohibited. Alcohol may be consumed in the Thermal Suite, but only from plastic glasses. We reserve the right to refuse entrance to the Spa to any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We reserve the right to ask any guest or group of guests to leave the Spa if they are disturbing other guests
Management reserves the right to close any area of the Spa, inclusive of the Thermal Suite, without prior notice for essential maintenance.
